The right Manus alternative depends on what you need to replace. Consider Claude for document and research tasks, Lindy for work across connected business apps, and Brainmox for a managed assistant with continuing project context and recurring work. If your Manus workflow depends on a persistent computer running an application or script, verify that requirement separately before switching.
This guide focuses on research deliverables, files and ongoing administrative work. Building and hosting an application is a different buying decision: a product that can draft a report is not automatically a replacement for your deployment environment.
Disclosure: Brainmox publishes this comparison and is included. Competitor descriptions are based on official sources checked October 7, 2026, not a hands-on benchmark. Brainmox is $299 USD/month or $2,990/year, by invitation from an existing member. The linked Brainmox outputs are founder-run examples using fictional data; they do not establish superior accuracy or measured time savings.

These are entry prices and billing structures, not equivalent amounts of completed work. For US and Canadian buyers, verify checkout currency, taxes and billing period; a displayed dollar amount should not be assumed to be CAD. Manus’s readable membership guide is dated March 16, 2026, so check the current pricing page before purchasing rather than treating the older guide as a binding quote.
First identify what your Manus task depends on
Separate the deliverable from the environment that produces it. A spreadsheet of supplier research can be evaluated by its fields and sources. A running application may also depend on installed packages, saved files, credentials, hosting and availability between sessions.
Manus documents two relevant environments. Its My Computer feature uses the desktop app to work on the user’s computer. Its Cloud Computer is a persistent virtual machine for applications, bots and scripts, distinct from a temporary sandbox. A claim that Manus only works in an isolated cloud browser would miss those capabilities. My Computer documentation, Cloud Computer documentation.
Before replacing a task, write down the source files, account connections, output format, execution location and anything that must remain available afterward. Ask whether the alternative supports that exact combination. Memory, scheduled prompts and a persistent computer solve different problems; none should be used as shorthand for the others.
Claude: evaluate document work and task handoffs
Claude’s current pricing page lists task handoffs, scheduling and document tools on Pro, with Cowork capabilities rolling into Claude. Its Cowork guide describes projects and file-based work; cloud tasks can run without the desktop app open, while local files and browser access depend on the desktop connection. Check availability for the plan and surface you intend to use. Claude pricing, Cowork documentation.
This is a candidate when you want a research brief, an editable report or changes to permitted files. Evaluate the artifact directly: does the spreadsheet open, do its numbers reconcile, and do the sources support the conclusions? If your main reason for leaving Manus is an incorrect research result, switching subscriptions alone does not establish that the same task will become reliable.
Lindy: evaluate the connected-app sequence
Lindy documents connected business apps, recurring routines and workspace context. Its pricing page describes approval for actions with outside impact, including sending email and updating other systems. Verify the specific connection and action your task needs, along with the approval experience in your account. Lindy product overview, Lindy plans and approval description.
For example, define the sequence as “read these project updates, prepare the weekly summary and return it for review.” Then test whether each source is accessible and where the result appears. A product listing a familiar app is insufficient evidence that it supports every action in that app.
Credits also need a practical test. Record usage for your representative job, including revisions, before estimating the cost of repeating it. Do not compare credit counts between vendors as if one credit purchased the same amount of work everywhere.
Brainmox: evaluate continuing context and recurring responsibilities
Brainmox combines searchable memory, scheduled work, file tools and supported account connections in a managed cloud assistant. It can create and edit Office documents, return files for download and prepare Gmail drafts with the selected access. Its optional local tool runtime does not make the AI offline or self-hosted. Read the product scope and controls before choosing it for a particular workflow.
The useful evidence is the actual output, not a generic claim of autonomy:
- The weekly report example provides a Word report and CSV ledger from six fictional updates, with sources and review findings.
- The meeting action-list example preserves original and revised files after an owner and deadline correction.
- The Gmail walkthrough shows three observed saved drafts, including a corrected-date thread and the limits of Draft mode.
These examples demonstrate individual tasks. They do not prove unattended recurring reliability, perfect memory or account-wide action isolation. Start with a bounded workflow and inspect its next run after a correction.
Brainmox is worth evaluating when those responsibilities justify its price and you can obtain a member invitation. If you only need occasional writing, require immediate public signup or need a documented application-hosting environment, choose according to those requirements. This guide does not establish Brainmox as a like-for-like Manus app-building or hosting replacement.
Run one switching test before moving your work
Use the same authorized inputs with each candidate. The following is an illustrative test brief, not a benchmark we have run against the products above:
Compare three suppliers using only the five source pages I provide. Return a CSV with supplier, requested service, stated lead time, source URL and date checked. Mark facts that are missing or conflicting. Create a short report explaining the differences without selecting a winner for me. Do not contact suppliers or create accounts.
Choose sources you can read yourself and a few facts you can verify independently. Save the brief and original inputs. Then assess four things:
- Source fidelity: open each cited page and check the reported fact. An unavailable page must be disclosed; an invented answer fails the test.
- Finished files: open the CSV and report in the software you will actually use. Check missing rows, unsupported conclusions and formatting.
- Correction handling: change one source fact and ask for a revised artifact. Check that the update appears everywhere it matters and unchanged facts stay intact.
- Repeat cost and access: record the plan, credits or limits encountered, review effort and whether the required source connections remain available. If the task must recur, inspect a scheduled occurrence too.
For an existing Manus task, add the requirements you already depend on: local files, runtime packages, output destination or a running application. Do not assume project history, saved credentials or schedules transfer to another product. Keep the original setup until the replacement passes your actual acceptance checks.
The assistant evaluation scorecard can structure that review. For a choice centered on operating your own assistant, use the OpenClaw alternatives guide. For choosing a tool from scratch by task, use AI assistants for work.
Which alternative should you try first?
Start with the smallest requirement your current setup does not meet. Compare Claude for document work, Lindy for a connected-app sequence, and Brainmox for continuing project context and recurring responsibilities. Keep Manus if its environment is part of what makes the task work and another tool has not demonstrated a replacement.
For Brainmox, review the current price, invitation requirements and data-handling boundaries. The decision should rest on a checked output and a workable operating model, not the number of features in a comparison table.
