Local-first by design
Brainmox is a desktop application that runs on your own machine. Your conversations, files, workspaces, and vault contents stay on your device. We do not upload them to our servers as part of normal operation.
What we collect
We collect the minimum needed to run the service: your account details (name, email, billing information), license and activation signals (so your desktop app knows it's valid), and product telemetry (crash reports and high-level usage counters). If you contact us by email, we keep that correspondence.
What we do not collect
We do not log the content of your conversations with your agent, the files your agent reads, the contents of your vault, or the responses returned by language models. We do not sell or rent personal information to anyone. We do not use your data to train shared models.
Model providers
When your assistant calls a language-model provider (Anthropic, OpenAI, Groq, or another you choose), the prompt leaves your machine. We strip secrets and obvious PII before it goes. The provider handles that request under its own privacy terms, which you can review on their site. You can bring your own API keys to control this directly.
Cookies and the marketing site
Brainmox.com uses strictly-necessary cookies only. No marketing trackers, no session replay, no third-party advertising pixels. If we add analytics, we'll use a privacy-respecting, self-hosted option and disclose it here.
Your rights
You can request a copy of the personal data we hold about you, correct it, or ask us to delete it. Canadian residents have rights under PIPEDA; EU/UK residents under the GDPR; California residents under the CCPA/CPRA. Write to hello@brainmox.com and we'll respond within 30 days.
Retention
Account data is kept while your account is active and for a reasonable period after to meet tax and accounting obligations. Support correspondence is kept for up to two years. Crash reports are retained for 90 days.
Security
We follow the practices outlined in our Security page, including encryption in transit, encrypted vault storage on-device, secret scrubbing before model calls, and hardened shell execution. No system is perfectly secure; we disclose incidents promptly.
Children
Brainmox is a professional tool and is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes
If we materially change this policy, we'll update the date above and notify account holders by email before the change takes effect.
